C.P., Eddie, Eliot, and Jeff were there... I have no clue where Tony was, and maybe I don't want to know... To expain it a little more thoroughly, there was this moderator person who chose what questions would be asked to the guys. A couple of mine did get on... But here's what C.P. told me about it... Yeah, the moderator does all the sorting and we're just on the other end of the phone line screaming stuff. (he also said that he loves us cheeseheads (people who live in WI)I guess we're cheeseheads to him, and it sounds gouda to me!!!) Here's the transcript....(I probably will add my OWN comments to it TOO :) ENJOY!!
****I would just like to add that I brought up Wausau WI, and the guys REALLY must've liked that show!!**** *are my comments Blessid Union of Souls March 14, 2001 Find out more about Blessid Union of Souls Events_Moderator: Howdy folks! Tonight we are chatting with Blessid Union of Souls. Joining us are Eliot Sloan (lead vocals, piano), Jeff Pence (guitars), C.P. Roth (keyboards, bass, harmonica), Eddie Hedges (drums, percussion) and Tony Clark (bass, guitars). They sing the smash hit, "Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)". Get those questions ready, we will be starting in just a few minutes! Events_Moderator: OK everyone, please welcome Eliot, Jeff, C.P., and Eddie to this Live Event! Hi guys, welcome to Lycos Live Events! How's it going? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Wonderful! Everyone's wonderful! BUOS1FANINWI: Eliot, can you PLEASE wear your silver pants - not the fuzzy ones that you wore in WAUSAU- when you come to Wisconsin? (I'm begging you!) BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: Silver pants are history. Sorry to disappoint, but all I have are the gold pants. Thanks for the compliment, anyway. *NOOOOOOOOOO *but gold is ok too! Heaven48: I was just wondering where you get your ideas for your songs. Do you sing about your life and the things that you have been through? BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: Our songs are about life. And most of the time, they are true stories, I.E: I believe. BUOS1FANINWI: How do you feel that your life has changed because of being in the music biz? (The subtle everyday things.) BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: We're broker than if we had real jobs. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: I've had a lot more fun! *Eliot is obsessed with FUN! :) BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: It's like being in the third grade, except better . . . whatever! kclb58: CP, why is "the Mix" still refusing to play "Storybook Life"? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Keep calling them, and ask them! BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: If they get tired of that, request "That's the Girl" instead! ginmister: How many number one songs have you had, not counting "I Believe"? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: None. "I Believe" is the only one! BUOS1FANINWI: Hi cuties! I'm a HUGE fan and I LOVE your music! Have you guys decided what the next single will be? *And will Emosia possibly be touring with you this summer?... *I think C.P. said that he would possibly be... BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: I believe the next single could be "That's The Girl I've Been Telling You About." eternalangel: What do you think of today's notion that a "band" can just be thrown together and it will work? For example, "Making the Band" and the resulting O-Town. Do you think they will have success? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Listen to me very carefully: they are not bands! They are models who answered an audition. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: It's just proof that enough money and enough marketing will make you believe anything is good! ginmister: Everybody asks me why you spell blessid with an 'i' . . . BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: So people don't say "Blessed" BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: Next question! Singinsista: I have a dream of being a famous singer, and I was wondering what advice you could give me to get started? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: We get this question all the time. If you're really serious, find a way to perform in front of as many people as you can and take every gig. If you've got the goods, people will know it. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: Take every opportunity to find out as much about the music business as you can, if you plan on doing this for a living. It's good to know what you're getting yourself into. BUOSlover: Hey guys, it's Kat! Was there a show that you found particularly exciting or different? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: I'm trying to think of the most different shows. We've done some things in Europe which were different in both good and bad ways. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: We did a show at the House of Blues in Chicago and it was just a kick ass show. **somewhere along the line I sent something about standing under Jeff in Fond du Lac, I think he got it mixed up with Wausau... Fond du Lac, please don't go there.... BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: WAUSAU, Wisconsin was off the hook; completely, literally, off the hook. luann125: I love the song "Storybook Life"! Who came up with the idea for the song? It is AWESOME! Any chance you guys will tour Wilkes-Barre again? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: We're still booking shows for the spring and summer, and we hope to get back to Wilkes-Barre. "Storybook Life" came from Emosia and Jeff. Peechesncream: Do your songs take you long to write or do they hit you in a flash? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: No one way. vcozzi: I know this is a tough one, but if you had to pick, what is your favorite BUOS lyric? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: My personal favorite is from the new song, "Then She Hit Me." Here's the lyric: "Long Island's in my system. I felt like Sonny Liston." BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: My favorite lyric is in the song "South Hampton Avenue," from the Buzz CD, and the lyric is: "My brother Dave is on display for all the world to see." see_puck: When you were growing up, who did you look up to in the music world? Also, I have to say you were the best concert I have seen in a LONG time! BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Thank you, from all of us, thank you! All of us will answer individually. My guys were The Beatles and Zappa. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, James Brown . . . those kind of guys. Oh, and the Jackson Five. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: Prince and Queen. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: It's just too many to say. Eric Smith and 38 Special. Jupie: Have any of the celebrities mentioned in "Storybook Life" responded to the song? :-) BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Nobody's responded yet. *I recall reading somewhere that Cindy Crawford really likes the song hey leonardo, wrote them a letter and is a fan too. But they've never met Mariah... so they prolly haven't gotten any celebrity responses for SL. teach51: Do you have a video for "Storybook Life"? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: No, there's no official video for the song. Nor will there be. chica_loca1301: What would y'all be doing if you weren't in the band? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: I'd like to be train engineer. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: I think something with my hands. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: Well, uh . . . I guess I'd be lost, wouldn't I? Probably build something, too. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: I wanna be an actor. BUOS1FANINWI: So guys how do feel your image has changed over the years (from plaid to coolness)? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: They finally listened to me! BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: Yeah, RIGHT! HackGenetis: What was your first gig like? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: I would describe that gig as heartfelt, but comical. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: If it came before 1996 and all the touring we did, I can't remember! ginmister: Jeff, are you really as quiet as you seem? BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: Of course! BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Jeff is the funniest guy in the band. But you have to be in the band to appreciate it! SportsBoy32: Is there ever going to be a way to fit "It's Your Day" &"Humble Star" into a live show? BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: We hope so! niffer3: Are you guys currently on tour? And if not, when are going to be? I would love to come see you in concert! BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Yes, we are. Got to http://www.blessidunion.com and check out the tour dates. And we're booking new shows all the time! Amber06111: What song means the most to you? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: I think everybody in the band probably has a different answer. For myself, it's the song "Home", because that was the first thing I did with these guys. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: "I Believe", because it was the first single. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: "Hey Leonardo", cause it's so much fun. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: "Standing At the Edge of the Earth", because it's got big emotion. BUOSlover: Does the title of the new CD, "The Singles", refer to singles from your other CDs or "songs about single people falling in love," since most of your songs have to do with love? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Yes! Since that's what all of our singles have been about. But it's singles off the other three CDs, plus some new stuff and two videos. SportsBoy32: Are videos as fun (or as tedious) to make as the CDs themselves? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: {laughs} They are tedious in a different way. But you do eat better! BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: You do videos in a fraction of the time you do a record. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: There's always hot girls in a video. There's *never* hot girls in the studio. That's always extra. tinirini2000: Are any of you guys single? Not counting Eddie, who has a beautiful baby. BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Well, Tony is SO single, he really is single. Everybody is single, but Jeff and I. Events_Moderator: I hate to say it, but we have to wrap this up in a few minutes. Our time with the guys is almost up. We'll take just a few more comments or questions. eternalangel: Has there ever been a time when you just wanted to say "forget it, this is not worth it anymore"? And if so, what has kept you going? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: We'd love to quit. But we have to be in WAUSAU tomorrow! Obviously, the things that get us through the day are our fans and the reactions at the live shows. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: We don't do this for the money! BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Doesn't mean he doesn't want to! BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: I enjoy doing what I do, so the money isn't important anymore . . . as long as I can eat! And Tony *really* needs a girl! A nice girl! **It was make fun of Tony night because he wasn't there to defend himself! Jupie: How did you decide on the artwork for the cover of The Singles? Do you know the couple on the cover? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: No, it's usually not our decision. BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: It's actually a picture of C.P. and Tony put in Photoshop and they aged both of us forty years. And Tony turned into a woman, because he took too much stuff from GNC. *HA HA HA vcozzi: What songs other than Leonardo and Nascar have you done videos for? BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: "I Believe", "Oh Virginia", "Let Me Be the One", and "Light in your Eyes." *"I Wanna Be There" too! BUOSlover: Even poor saps like my parents recognize your songs. Do you think that you are successfully transcribing music to all types of people? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: That's not really an issue when we write. We just wanna write songs that don't suck. BUOSlover: What pitfalls have you guys had to endure throughout your career? BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: All of them! BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: EMI Records! BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: We love all the other labels, love em! Events_Moderator: Thanks guys we had a really good time chatting with you. We will have to do this again some time. I hope everyone had fun! We sure did! BlessidUnionOfSouls: CP: Just want to thank everybody for doing this with us! Check out our website http://www.blessidunion.com and come see us play this summer! BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eddie: Thanks everybody for tuning in and chatting with us! Hopefully, we'll get to see everyone this summer! If you don't have the CD, pick one up! :) BlessidUnionOfSouls: Jeff: Hope to see you at the show! BlessidUnionOfSouls: Eliot: I'm going to do a couple of personal shout outs! Thanks to all of my fans, including Tina D, Laura, Charlie's Angles in Canton OH., and Crazy Ranah in Chicago (Eddie's girl)! niffer3: I just wanted to say thanks for sharing! All of you guys are sharing this great talent you have with the rest for us to enjoy! chica_loca1301: Thanks so much guys! we love you! eternalangel: Bye guys! jmdrone: BUOS Rocks! *somewhere in here I got to say bye guys stop by my page sometime! FelixUnger18: I love you guys! eternalangel: Can't wait to see you all again! Miss hearing ya live! luann125: Thanks guys for sharing your time with us! Events_Moderator: Thanks again for coming everyone. See ya next time at Lycos Live Events!
