To fit this whole bands bio onto one page... that's impossible.. this band has done A LOT over the past 12 years... This is what I've compiled from various sources (and I cannot guarantee that it's 100% accurate either!), so hopefully it'll make a little sense..
My favorite band, Blessid Union of Souls, began in the early 90's. Most people
didn't hear of them until 1995. The band had an album recorded in 1993, called
HOME but waited until 1995 to release it. The members of the band were Eliot
Sloan (a lead vocalist & piano), C.P. Roth, (Co-Producer, keyboardist, bassist,
who has worked with many artists throughout his career), Eddie Hedges, (drummer),
and Jeff Pence (guitar).
Sloan and Pence actually started the band in the early 90's. And Eliot was in
a band in the 80's? where Eddie was doing the lead vocals! (ROCK ON!!!) I'm
not sure if that's true or not.
The band finally got the recognition that they were looking for, in 1995, with
'I Believe'. A slow tempo song, that quickly reached number one on the billboard
charts and then stayed there for a couple of weeks. The success of 'I Believe'
quickly propelled the sales of their first album HOME. The band then released
some follow up singles (Oh Virginia, Let me be the One, All Along), but they
weren't as successful as 'I Believe', but got into the top ten, and had meaningful
messages.
Blessid toured for 18 months to support HOME, and added bassist, Tony Clark,
then the bands line-up was complete. They then went back into the studio to
release their next album, BLESSID UNION OF SOULS. The album was released in
1997, but it did not get the attention that HOME received, They released a couple
of singles, 'I Wanna Be There', and 'Light in Your Eyes', that peaked in the
mid- teens on the billboard charts, but never the less, they were hits. The
album did not sell well in part because the band's label, EMI records went out
of business a couple of months after the album was released.
Then the band got a new lease on their music in 1999, when they signed on PUSH
v2 records. They visited the studio again, and came up with another album, WALKING
OFF THE BUZZ. WALKING was a reawakening for the band, they had more freedom
on this album than on HOME or BUOS. The first single 'Hey Leonardo', an upbeat
song that parodied pop-culture, it reached Billboard charts to number 3, and
propelled the band back into the mainstream. But they never really went away.
WALKING had a couple more singles, 'Standing at the Edge of the Earth', and
'That's the Girl'-which was promoted in Australia.
They're going to be back again soon, with their newest release, that's been
out for almost a year,(February 27, 2001), called THE SINGLES. It's a compilation
album, including ALL of the band's singles, and some new tracks. Their newest
single, 'Storybook Life', is currently being played on radio stations throughout
the country. Look for more from this band in the future. Because they are the
BEST band on Earth!!!
They've been touring, with long time producer and friend, Emosia/3xl... But
we're waiting for what the future holds for this band.....
Ok, the future is HERE!! As of April 27th, there are two new members.. C.P.
and Eddie have left. Shaun and Bryan are taking their places. They're currently
touring and hopefully will be in the studio soon!!
(forgive me if most of it's not accurate, I had to do it from memory, and
wherever I did remember the info. from, many sources, I guess this'll be your
credit-THANKS A LOT!!)
2002
